Atomic GIGABYTEs OC and games night a hit TeamAU takes global world records with left over LN2!

Atomic Magazine and GIGABYTE put on a show for its lucky readers at AtomicHQ in Sydney overnight. IMG_9447

The LN2 flowed free and fast last night, at our first sub-zero overclocking event here at Atomic HQ!

We opened the doors as the rest of Haymarkets staff were leaving, after casting a rather curious eye over the mess of gaming systems being set up by Team Immunity, and at the arcane tools of the serious overclocker. As folks showed up, both youngpro and dinos22, from TeamAU, got down to the action.

After a brief safety intro from Dino (essential when dealing with stuff as chillingly cold as LN2), our guests split into teams and got to work on two GIGABYTE boards, a UD3 and a UD5, each with a new Ivy Bridge processor, while some of the staff (ahem) got to testing out the Battlefield 3 LAN.

Its tough work!

Dinos22 giving a quick rundown on GIGABYTE digital PWM and monster overclocking boards the lucky group was about to OC on their own (and hit some tremendous frequencies!)

Visit Atomic site for the event photo gallery and more on how the two competitions went with Battlefield3 playoff and LN2 OC dinos22 vs youngpro’s teams!

TeamAU boys, dinos22 and youngpro, had some extra LN2 to burn off and benchmarked 3DMARK01 with a new killer 3D01 bios and showed off nice efficiency the boards have now. Any 3DMARK01 tragic out there will absolutely love the new bios (to be released next week in beta!). Benchmarks were done on GIGABYTE Z77X-UD5H and Z77X-UD3H, both solid extreme OC boards!

HWBOT Country Cup looking to be the most popular OC contest ever organised how is your country fairing

HWBOT is in its 5th edition of the famous Country Cup competition where overclockers from nations worldwide compete to give their country the best chance of walking away with the highest honours. HWBOT is saying they are expecting submission numbers to surpass the most popular Country Cup 2011 competition considerably this year.

Being an Australian I can tell you we love our sports and do pretty well against the big guns despite being a relatively small nation (size of population). Overclocking is just like any other “sport”, it has its stats and ranking systems that immediately give you an idea how well (or badly) you stack up against others.

How about you jump over to the competition first and check it out. Here is the web page you need to go to.

Countdown timer gives you an indication how long a time there is left. Currently we’re looking just over a month to go. The leaderboard is tightly stacked and some of the countries are there that always do well and then there are a few surprises. Australia is one of those countries that has not faired too well in the past finishing well down the ladder in 30+ spots. Well, this year things are different. Boys from OCAU HWBOT team and Team Australia Extreme OC team are joining forces and looking for a strong finish.

Americans have also not been as active in this comp in the past but this year they are looking very strong. The usual suspects of Germany and Indonesia are in top 5. We are yet to see some of the previous champions including Romanian, Greek and Polish teams step up their game. I have no doubt the leaderboard will take many twists and turns yet, best to keep an eye on the latest submissions and team movements daily. I love checking out people’s OC rig setup pics that are compulsory in result submissions. I’ll put up a couple of cool shots here!

GIGABYTE is the proud sponsor of Country Cup competition and is offering some nice prizes for the winners as are other companies including G.Skill, Intel and Cooler Master.

Thumbs up to all and have fun.

How to save OC profile or entire BIOS including OC settings! with GIGABYTE board

A quick how to guide from hwbot’s Massman:

Just a quick thread to show how you can save your GIGABYTE OC settings so you can share them with other users or use them for future reference. There are two methods:

- save OC profile
- save entire BIOS (!!)

If you want someone to boot up with exactly the same settings youre using, the second BIOS save option should be much more interesting than the first one.

Saving the BIOS with Q-Flash is pretty interesting if you want to start exactly where you left off from the previous session. Genuinely didnt know about the feature.

GIGABYTE OC Lab Gets Overrun… by OC Sharks!

IMG_0972

Last week the GIGABYTE OC lab hosted some world famous benchers to destroy hardware, go through massive quantities of LN2 and have a great time doing it. In the process several world records have fallen. We can’t post the scores just yet, but notice everyone but the shark and “Jake” are smiling. Congrats guys on an outstanding week of benching!

GIGABYTE OC Lab had its first visitors world records broken!

You’ve heard about the grand opening of GIGABYTE’s new OC Lab but there was one key ingredient missing, extreme overclockers and thousands of litres of LN2. I’m pleased to say I’ve been present at GIGABYTE HQ in the past week to tick that box and give you a snippet of days of great fun, and to top it off, some excellent records achieved.

TeamAU (youngpro, sniperOz & dinos22) were among the overclockers to try the lab. Mad222 & KK from Hong Kong as well as a man machine from OcUK that goes by the name “8pack” gave the lab a go. Resident overclocker hicookie was on hand as well.

One does not simply enter a lab without LN2 hitting through the roof!

901791_4621077653195_1923412913_o

Can’t have a lab looking too clean without any high end gear laying about so we got to work pretty fast with the GIGABYTE X79-UD7 and 4WAY GTX Titans and also Z77X-UP7.

11889_252817501528729_1606434743_n906922_4621078813224_1817359771_o

Stock GTX Titans received some mods in form of an unofficially named “G-Power” board by HWBOT last week which is essentially CPU power delivery system you see on GIGABYTE’s UP series motherboards with 60Amp MOSFETs and chokes. GTX Titan was definitely giving it a workout with a single card drawing up to 260Amps or in laymen’s terms it probably needed the same power as that DeLorean in Back To The Future to time travel hahah! Crazy stuff.

Youngpro and hicookie soldering liquorice looking cables to the power board below to hopefully provide stable enough power delivery and it sure did with two cards tested both clocking to 1800MHz and beyond.

SIGNIFICANT RESULTS:

CPUz 3770K frequency FIRST PLACE on Z77X-UP7 & 3770K @7186.54MHz

3DMARK Vantage FIRST PLACE 1xGPU, X79-UD7 & GTX Titan @66204points

3DMARK03 FIRST PLACE 1xGPU, Z77X-UP7 & GTX Titan @229511points

3DMARK11 SECOND PLACE 1xGPU, X79-UD7 & GTX Titan @21266points

Dinos22 kicked things off on Sunday with a new 3770K frequency world record with help of youngpro and his straw technique with a new 7186.54MHz. This score was achieved on all 4 cores with low volts with liquid nitrogen (-196C) only! It topped not one but two liquid helium (-269C) scores that were on top of the charts in the past! GIGABYTE Z77X-UP7 was the board of choice for this chart topping score of course!

3770 record

SniperOz, 8pack and youngpro got to work on the X79-UD7 platform with some single card GTX Titan scores snatching single card world record in 3DMARK Vantage and second place in 3DMARK11.

GIGABYTE Extreme OC Workshop Brisbane

TeamAU boys (deanzo, dinos22, sniperoz & deanzo) just finished the latest GIGABYTE Extreme OC workshop in Brisbane. Eva2000 also made a brief appearance on the first day. It was a really fun event in which enthusiasts from Brisbane were passed over control of some seriously souped up rigs running 7Ghz+ with AMD Bulldozer and GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD7 motherboards.

Kudos to AMD, GIGABYTE, CORSAIR, UMART and Atomic mag for backing the event.
